Recruitment and Marketing

General Body Membership Meetings
General Body Meetings (GBMs) provide opportunities to network with MBA level professionals and MBA candidates. They also feature the innovative question and answer program “Conversations-The CEO Series”, where a high ranking local minority professional discusses the path he or she took to success. GBMs are an excellent way to build the MBA diversity pipeline within your organziation and build awareness of your organization’s diversity initiatives among diversity professionals in the Washington DC metro area.

Pre-Conference Career Expo
The Pre-Conference Career Expo provides an opportunity to meet local MBA and professional talent as they prepare for the National Black MBA Association, Inc.’s Annual Conference and Exposition. Come meet with candidates who are actively seeking employment in the D.C. metro area. This event features a career fair exhibit hall and plenary sessions designed to provide attendees with tips for navigating the current job market and maximizing career search success at the annual conference. If you are recruiting at the conference, the Career Expo provides an excellent opportunity to meet and greet local candidates prior to the conference.

Job Postings and Resume Database Access

Single or multiple postings are available for your hiring needs. Jobs can be posted for one (1), three (3), six (6) or twelve (12) months. Posting your available positions means you will reach a web audience of over 1,000 MBA professionals in the Washington, D.C. metro area. In addition, you have the ability to search hundreds of resumes of local MBA professionals actively seeking employment. Database access is also available for one (1), three (3), six (6) or twelve (12) month intervals.

Electronic Media
Website visits and Internet messaging have become the premium mechanism for connecting employers and potential employees and for conveying consumer information. NBMBAA-DC has an email distribution list of approximately 2,000, and a website that receives tens of thousands of hits every month. NBMBAA-DC also has groups within LinkedIn and Facebook that provide additional reach to recruit future employees and promote products and services.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Winter, Summer and Christmas Networking Events

With all of the great programming the association oversees, sometimes the members just have to relax, network and socialize. Throughout the year, the Chapter provides several opportunities for members and friends to network in a relaxed environment. Our events provide partners additional opportunities to meet and greet employment candidates beyond the formal professional and business programming. Our networking events include:

Community and Youth Development Philanthropy

Leaders of Tomorrow
Leaders of Tomorrow- Washington, D.C. ( LOT), is a network of professionals working together to guide area at-risk students down a path to professional careers. Mentors from the area work with students on a consistent basis to help them develop the habits necessary for achievement, to set and reach goals, and to understand personal and collective responsibility. Leaders of Tomorrow puts into practice a unique integrated system of activities, workshops, assignments and measurements that helps to train students in use of the tools necessary for success. Students are then accountable for putting these tools to work.

Students are measured in key competencies designed to raise expectations and have access to tools designed to build their mastery of critical skills necessary for their emergence as successful professionals, including coaching in the areas of:

Leaders of Tomorrow National Business Case Competition Team
Believing that young minority students can excel at any level with the proper training and encouragement, NBMBAA-DC in 2002 recruited the Houston, Dallas and Atlanta chapters to co-sponsor a national competition where high school students analyze a graduate level Harvard business case and present findings and recommendations before a panel of judges. Today, over a dozen chapters from across the country compete annually for scholarships.

Annual Scholarship and Awards Banquet
Understanding that almost 60% of African-American college students never graduate, mostly because of financial reasons, NBMBAA-DC gives out nearly $20,000 in scholarships each year at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The primary fundraising vehicle for scholarships is the annual Scholarship and Awards Fundraiser, during which the organization recognizes the contributions of a prominent national figure with is Lifetime Achievement Award (past recipients have included Congressional Black Caucus Chairman Elijah Cummings, National Broadcasting Association Vice President Michael Jack and Tennessee United States Congressman Harold Ford). Awards are also given to outstanding chapter members and, of course, scholarship recipients. The signature event also provides plenty of food, music and entertainment to ensure a phenomenal networking and social experience.

Wealth Building Series
The Wealth Building Series consists of comprehensive workshops designed to strengthen the economic and intellectual wealth of the Washington, D.C. community by advancing knowledge of investment opportunities and savings vehicles. Impacting approximately 400 participants over five years, the Wealth Building Series has become a national model that shows area residents how to purchase homes and use that asset as the basis for wealth acquisition, manage credit, maximize stock investments, plan for retirement and start businesses.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row bg_color=”#1e73be”][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]
